Born and raised in Morgantown, West
Virginia, Heather graduated from
University High School in May 1999. Her
career in veterinary medicine began by
volunteering at Pawprints Veterinary
Hospital, in Morgantown, the summer
after graduation. She then pursued an
animal science degree at West Virginia
University while working at Cheat Lake
Animal Hospital, also in Morgantown. She
then moved to Morehead, Kentucky to
study at Morehead State University, where
she first earned her associate's degree
and then her bachelor's degree in
December of 2006. While attending MSU,
Heather gained experience in both large
and small animal practice doing a preceptorship at Haygard-Davidson-McGee
Equine Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky and at West Liberty Veterinary
Hospital. She passed her National and WV State Board exams in the summer
of 2006. Heather started her career as a veterinary technician at
Waynesburg Animal Hospital on February 27, 2007. Outside of work, her
hobbies include ice-skating, photography, attending broadway shows, and
anything that has to do with her pets. Currently, Heather breeds and raises
Samoyeds and Golden Retrievers, and competes in dog shows in the United
States and Canada. Besides her Golden Retrievers and Samoyeds, Heather
also has one St. Bernard, a Siberian Husky, and six cats.
